WE'RE MARRIED!

We're not sure if anyone has been reading this blog, but we'll wrap it up.

The wedding was wonderful. Despite some terrible weather Thursday and Friday, the weather Saturday the 4th (The day of the wedding) was pretty nice.

The lakeside ceremony started later than expected and we missed the quiet hours on the lake (1-3PM). As a result, there were boats and jet-skis going by detracting from the ceremony dialog a little. It was a little windy, the Bride's veil was blowing around everywhere and we dropped the unity candle event as it probably wouldn't have worked so well. In the end, the ceremony was nice and we got to greet all the people that came.

The reception was great, the catered food was excellent, and most importantly, the homemade cake was phenomenal and worth the effort. Our bridal party had some nice words for us, despite having to improv the speeches!

Following Dinner and Desert, we moved the party back lakeside. The dancing was fun, and there were fireworks all around the lake. Our DJ, a good friend, illuminated the trees with colorful LED backlighting creating quite a nice atmosphere for our evening activities.

Sunday, we had an awesome cookout with Lobster, Chicken Marsala, Penne ala Vodka, Sausage and Peppers, and a few other dishes. Eric and Greg (Grooms brother & father) did an awesome job. Since only the Bride's cake was cut Saturday, we had the entire Grooms cake (layer of carrot cake, red velvet, and white cake with blueberries and strawberries) to eat Sunday. We were happy so many people stayed for both days.

We should be getting wedding photographs back pretty soon and will post a link to the photographers site.

We also had an incredible honeymoon to Alaska. We spent some time in Anchorage, went on a day glacier cruise of the Prince William Sound, took a scenic train ride to Denali, and stayed at a neat back-country lodge, the Kantiishna Roadhouse. We'll post a link to these photos at some point too.

Is there anyone actually reading this? If so, make a post to the 'comments' please!

We're Finally Registered!

We're sorry for the delay, we've been very busy the last few weeks. For those that have been asking, we are now registered at Macy's and Amazon.com.

Amazon is pretty straightforward, you can search for us or follow this link:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wedding/1G5UYHXFJQDC7

For Macy's, we strongly recommend going to the store as there seems to be a huge discrepancy between prices in the store and on the registry web site.

Golf at Farmingbury Hills Country Club

If you'd like to golf Sunday, there is a golf course across the street from the lake. The Farmingbury Hills Country Club has a nice 9 hole course. I'm not sure how busy they will be On July 5th, but if you want you can call and reserve a tee time. (203) 879-8038

Hotel Reservations

Greetings Everyone!

Wedding plans are coming along well. We've been over to the lake a few times so far this year planning, making repairs, painting, planting, and cleaning everything up.

We have reserved a block of rooms at the Four Points Meriden (203) 238-2380 for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night. Double and King rooms should both cost $79.99 when you book as part of the "Gillespie Wedding Block". Double rooms have two double beds; King rooms have a king bed and pull-out sofa.

I called today and expanded the block so we have 30 rooms available for Friday and Saturday night, and 20 rooms available for Sunday night. The available rooms in the block are to be released on June 10th, so please book them soon.

Wedding Planning Status

We're not sure if anyone is actually reading this, but here's some status...

Since Erin is appalled at the color pink, I changed the theme for the blog.

Today we went to Connecticut for some wedding planning activities. We met with the rental people, caterers, restaurants, and hotels. Tomorrow on the way back home we plan to meet with a photographer.

We're planning on reserving a block of rooms at a nearby hotel so everyone can be reasonably co-located. Details will be included in the invitations.

Save the dates are off, Invitations coming soon!

Hello everyone! Erin and I have started distributing the save-the-date magnets and just wanted to let you know formal invitations will follow in the next few weeks, hopefully with more details. Since people may start checking this web site, we thought it is probably time to put some useful information here! People have already begun asking us questions about airports and hotels.

There are plenty of hotels in the area. We are evaluating options and plan to get a block/group rate at one nearby. We plan to have a hotel narrowed down before we send out the invitations.

As far as airports go, Bradley International Airport (BDL) is near Hartford Connecticut and will be the best choice for most people. In addition, people can probably fly in to New York City (JFK) From there you can rent a car or get a shuttle/cab/etc to grand central station and take a train to Waterbury, CT.

Maybe we'll appoint someone to coordinate everyone's transportation.

Stay tuned for more details!
